Regular Services
God's Word is preached among us every Sunday at 10 a.m. During the school year (September through May), our Sunday School and Adult Bible Class meet before church at 8:45 a.m. All are welcome.
The Lord's Supper is given the first and third Sundays of every month. As oneness at the altar presupposes oneness in what we believe, communion is open for all those who currently are confirmed members in good standing of congregations belonging to the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. If you are a visitor, please speak to Pastor Sonntag before partaking of the Lord's body and blood at this church. If you have questions or concerns about the ancient Christian practice of limited access to the Lord's Supper, please get in touch with Pastor Sonntag, read this paper that explains this practice, or do both.
We use the orders of service contained in Lutheran Service Book, the new official hymnal of our denomination, the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. Currently, this is Divine Service 1. We deliberately use these jointly agreed-upon orders to teach the Christian faith among us and to confess this faith to the world. We also do so to practice Christian humility and a loving service to our fellow Lutheran brothers and sisters in order to strengthen the bond of peace and unity among congregations sharing a joint confession of the faith. If you'd like to know more about this traditional Lutheran stance and practice, feel free to read this pamphlet.
For the most part, we use the old and new hymns contained in Lutheran Service Book. If you want to see for yourself how rich and comforting these hymns are, take a look at some of them presented in a devotional format. |
